Hi there! Thanks for your interest in joining my wonderful team of caregivers. While hanging out me with is a major perk of the job (obviously), there are others, too:
- use of my coffee bar which includes every topping/flavor you can imagine
- an endless playlist of 80s & 90s music (Broadway showtunes and 50s classics, too)
- your co-worker is an orange cat
- union benefits via UDW
- …a safe, supportive environment that often smells of baked goods
so… what would you be doing?
You’d be helping me with…
- activities of daily living (getting in and out of bed, showering, bathroom, dressing, etc.)
- meal prep
- laundry
- light cleaning / basic household tasks
- errands
- making fancy lattes
requirements?
While caregiving experience is not necessary (training will be provided), there are a few requirements of the job, including:
- occasional light lifting (30-40 lbs)
- a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- be comfortable around pets
- must be dependable and have a sense of humor
- as I am immunocompromised, wearing a mask is necessary (masks will be provided)
more details?
My team of awesome caregivers is primarily funded through California’s In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS). Under this program, disabled people can find, hire, and maintain their own care staff. But, the program does mandate that employees are 18 or older, pass a background/fingerprint check, and attend a one-hour orientation at the county IHSS office that may include reeeeally boring videos (sorry). All caregivers are W-2 workers and will be paid by IHSS every two weeks on a set payment schedule through direct deposit or check by mail.
Note: while IHSS’s hourly rate is set by the county, that is just part of the total compensation for this position. Message me for more details.
